The ukiyo-e prints made in Nagasaki are sometimes called ‘Nagasaki Hanga (Print)’. It is said that there are many pictures whose subject matters were taken from strange things or people from abroad. They used simple colors, ordinary paper in various sizes to record the sense of wonder they felt. I have wanted to produce unpredictable works full of wonder, so their works are stimulating enough.
