I have adapted the ukiyo-e print derived from the vengeance between that famous master swordsman, Miyamoto Mushashi, and Sasaki Ganryu, Kojiro, to this vivid work. Ganryu has a fine Bizen Osafune Nagamitsu sword. Musashi challenges him in two-sword fencing with a wooden sword made from the paddle he broke, and his sword. Musashi hits Ganryu between the eyes with the paddle sword faster than lightnings. The moment is expressed here with cutouts and the glitter, in a dynamic way.
